Personality: Jean is a little stuck-up, he was born into a successful merchant family and so has a feeling he is above people as he comes from money. His wit is sharp, but for the most part he is a snob and is not one to readily leap into a fight. Some would say he is a coward, and they would not be exactly wrong.

Brief History: Jean was born in Lyons, France into a successful merchant family. He was educated in some of the best schools available in the country, travelling to Paris to finish his education. After his schooling, Jean traveled back to Lyons to learn the business of trade. His father taught him the way of business and bargaining. After working for a while across Europe, Jean caught wind of a ship sailing for the New World and so seeking to make a name for himself, jumped aboard.

Gear, Clothing and Misc: Other than a fine set of clothes that any respectable merchant would wear, Jean does not carry much. His merchandise of textiles is stored in the ship’s hold, and only his person he carries a snuff box, handkerchief, and pocket watch.

Personality: Witty, crass, and head-strong, Eoin is a brawler to the core with an Irish wit that he grew up with in his homeland. Whenever he isn’t making snarky remarks, he is looking for a fight and eager to duel any man who is willing to cross swords with him.

Brief History: Eoin was born and raised in the port town of Cork, Ireland. Being Irish during those times was not a great thing. Poor and living in a rundown house, Eoin and his older brother had to beg and steal to help their family as both his mother and father did whatever small jobs they could to keep a roof over their heads and scraps on the table. Life was miserable, and that was not counting the weather, which made it worse.
At the age of 15 Eoin’s life took a sudden turn: British occupation forces were going about and rounding up troublemakers that were protesting the new laws sent in place. His father and mother were taken and his older brother was killed when he had fought back. In his rage Eoin grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed a guard repeatedly, killing him. With nowhere to go, wanted for murder, and now homeless, Eoin fled aboard the next ship sailing out. As a stowaway he was put to work as a cabin boy. For the next five years he served on that ship, The Waterfowl, traveling the Mediterranean and learning the trade of the sea.
When he was twenty, Eoin moved on, signing onto the New World-bound Lost Hope as a crewman. The journey over was perilous but the majority of the crew made it and without too much incident. Eoin found himself crossing the Atlantic multiple times over the next few years, faithfully serving aboard the Lost Hope.
The Lost Hope was sunk in a storm in the Caribbean, leaving Eoin stranded. He was picked up by a pirate ship. He signed up and began his career as a pirate. He has served aboard 3 different crews, barely evading capture from various European forces and managing to get another job.
He barely tolerates his captain, Kenneth Vaughan, who he often refers to as “The Welsh Git”, but the man gets him work and that is all that matters.

Gear, Clothing and Misc: Other than the clothes on his back, Eoin owns no other wardrobe. His vest, shirt, and sash all stolen from victims of Scapegrace’s prey. He keeps a needle, some thread in a pouch to repair his clothing, as well as a gunpowder horn and spare bullets in the pouch.

Name: Alejandra (Alejandro - Ale [all-ei]) de Soto Ramirez

Appearance: Alejandra is a short girl about 5 feet tall. She has short cropped medium brown hair and eyes, with light olive skin. She’s lithe, with a thin, lean body built well for running and swimming. Her features are plain, helping her pass easily for a male.



Personality: Ale is a reserved girl. Though a fast learner, she is distrustful of new people in her life, and keeps any inquiries to herself. However, if she is angry, she tends to act rashly, and often makes poor decisions based on feelings alone. She is very introverted, and takes every opportunity to spend time on the masts and away from her crewmates.



Brief History: Alejandra was raised by her father, a struggling Spanish merchant who dealt primarily with ships that came to and from the Caribbean. Her father, while not wealthy, would tell her stories of the beauty of the Caribbean and its savage inhabitants. Ale grew up frightened of and intrigued by these stories. When her father’s business began falling out, he decided to begin making the trips himself, making Ale promise she would stay with her aunt. Ale, like any curious and rebellious child, refused very loudly and persistently; her father eventually caved and bought her a ticket aboard.

They both survived the trip across the Atlantic, giving both Ale and her father their first view of the Caribbean. Unfortunately, due to hot weather and a severe bout of seasickness, neither thought it as grand as they had imagined. As soon as the ship made port, both father and daughter spent the next day in bed, trying to come to terms with what they had done. The two lived in that port for nearly six years, during which time Ale came to love the remote island as home. When Ale caught word that her father was planning on moving them back to Spain, she threw a mighty tantrum, then ran away and hid. She realized what it would mean for her if she went back to Spain, and loathed the idea of being married off to a pompous ass; they would clash constantly, she was sure. Still, she couldn’t bear to break her father’s heart, so together, the two took to sea.

Back in their cabin, Ale plotted to jump overboard and swim to shore so as not to have to marry. Her plan was in motion, her chest wrapped, her hair tucked under a cloth, and her feminine clothing unsuitable for swimming stowed away and traded for common sailor’s clothes. She had made it up to the main deck and nearly to the edge without more than a passing glance when the ship began to be pursued by pirates. Fearing for her life, Ale climbed the mast of the great ship as the lookout climbed down. Up there among the ropes and sails was where she stayed until the fighting noises died down below. She tried to climb down stealthily but was seen by a few members of the crew. From the looks of things, she was the only individual to have survived the onslaught. Fortunately for her, they thought she was a boy, and a lookout no less! The captain of the Scapegrace “suggested” she become their new lookout, since theirs had died during the fighting. Fearing for her life, she readily agreed. She was handed the previous lookout’s spyglass, and fell into her new life aboard the pirate ship with a sense of unease. Eventually, this unease dissipated, and Ale - now Alejandro to her crewmates - embraced her life of pirating.



Weapons: Two small knives in case any crewmen try any funny business. A cutlass.



Gear, Clothing and Misc: Ale has a spyglass that she keeps in a little sling on her belt. She also has a pair of binoculars, a roll of paper, and some charcoal on her person at all times. She wears knee breeches, a plain cotton shirt, a simple leather belt, and a battered leather coat. Though she owns a pair of boots, she opts to go barefoot when aboard the ship.



Other Notes: Ale is aboard the Scapegrace. She speaks Spanish and English fluently, and often switches between the two when she is upset or distracted. Ale is also mildly claustrophobic, and has been since her first trip on a boat.

Yeah, glancing over his bio, it does seem like he's an only kid. That's been fixed, albeit it is late... I'll review it in the morning, again. e_e

@questingmoon, I'd say everyone thinks she's 14-15, or maybe even 16, 13 is a bit low as an assumption for a 17 year old girl, Once that's done I'm happy enough to accept Alejandr(a/o), so long as you're alright knowing you're pretty underarmed compared to most everyone else.

@burger, Monte looks pretty good, only thing that comes to mind is that those metal and gem bracers should be absent in-rp since they're decidedly more fantasy esque. If we're agreed on that, then you're also good and accepted.

The both of you will wake up on the beach somewhere near one or the other of the wrecked ships, plenty of bodies and debris to check if you want more stuff. Leave Ambad and Vorg out of any discussions because I need to check if they're still in.
